Elderly people are at risk.
Lack of vitamin D in the body is a common occurrence, which, among other things, can lead to a dangerous disease.
We are talking about osteomalacia or softening of the bones, an ailment in which the strength of bone tissue decreases due to insufficient mineralization.
In the early stages, the disease can develop without showing symptoms, so it can only be detected using X-rays or diagnostic studies.
However, osteomalacia is often recognized on its own. So, with a deficiency of vitamin D, a person often feels a dull aching pain in the lumbar region, pelvis, and ribs.
In this case, the discomfort may intensify at night or with pressure on the bones.
Experts warn that the pathology is especially dangerous for the elderly, as it causes fractures and osteoporosis.
And in order to prevent vitamin D deficiency, experts advise taking it daily for prevention.
It is found in large quantities in cow’s milk, chicken eggs, cheese, fatty fish, cod liver, or Pollock, according to a study published in the US National Institutes of Health’s National Library of Medicine.
Earlier it became known that vitamin D is also necessary for the fight against coronavirus.
